You know what's amazing? Photographs.
Every once in a while, I go to Wikipedia and look up the history of a technology I take for granted. Today I read the article on Photography.
This photo, which was taken in 1838, is the first photograph ever taken of a human being (walking on the street down below). It's amazing. Before April 24th, 1838, no one had ever seen a picture of another person. All they had were memories and live experiences.
(Edit: And also paintings and things. But my point still stands, I think.)
Kind of puts things into perspective.
