The reflection of the apple on the tablet is wrong :-) You should have used a real 3D software, like Blender to do it, instead of Photoshop :-))))

The tablet looks a little too square to be something coming from Apple.

On the other hand, that desk looks awfully like the desks at Apple.

The drop shadow in the 2nd photo is a bit of a give away! Poor effort!

Fake. Look at the very soft shadow of the tablet on the macbook pro in the 2nd image... very soft - extremely soft for how close it is to the computer it's on top of. Where are they at - in a light box? and, the first image shows dramatically more solidified shadow.

My guess is fake.

With the amount of shadow made by the MacBook in the first "photo" (look to the left of the base and the screen against the wall), why is there no reflection at all from the screen of the Tablet reflected onto the screen of the MacBook?

I'd love for this to be real. In addition to the shadow/reflection looking manipulated...the perspective seems askew as well (the back-right corner seems to be going too far back into the distance). Hope I'm wrong and this is the actual drawing tablet...

It looks sub $900. Like a larger iPhone or iPod touch. Almost like a piece of an Air. Seems more geared towards reading than painting, drawing or Photoshop applications and that's a disappointment unless they are planning follow-up with a touch screen iMac for more robust uses. This one will be a hit with college kids and their starter credit cards.

To me, this rendering looks the most realistic (it has the Apple design elements)

This is a mock-up. Take a look at the glare of the macbook screen in the second "photo". Where's the black keys of the macbook keyboard right next to and above the tablet? I only see a white surface below the tablet in the glare.

I don't think that the dock connector would be on the wide side. And aren't we gonna get wireless syncing already? :p

Home button is missing. And some way of holding it without having your thumb on the screen.
Jan 26, 2010
The biggest problem here is the shadow below the tablet, not anything else. Look at it closely and you see it's clearly weird and photoshoppy. But a nice job Dustin!

August 28, 2009 Apple filed for patents on a new type of keyboard. This keyboard is a multi-touch keyboard with tactile feedback for users.

"The invention is credited to Wayne Carl Westerman of San Francisco, Calif. The described invention would include drive electronics that stimulate the multi-touch sensor and sensing circuits for reading the sensor in a single integrated package." -Apple Insider

This patent suggests that our predictions are correct. The supposed "iSlate" will not be a tablet but a clam shell notebook computer with multiple touch interfaces. One of these interfaces will include a dynamic tactile keyboard.

Nicely rendered but NOT the real thing. Its not a real image.
1st: the shadow under the tablet is way too smooth and too consistant around the edges/device.
2rd: the macbook pros soft bezel on the bottom (to make the macbook look thin) is too thin/not high big enough, compare it to your actual macbook pro 15". The distance between table surface and edge of macbook is too small (where the soft fillet of the bottom/back sits).

Hi,
Well done for getting a slice of the prelaunch hysteria about the imminent Apple product. I agree that the shadow looks too similar for the bottom and left side of the tablet to look real.

However the overall pics look great. Well done with grabbing online attention and doing a good mockup Job!

Its definitely a fake cause the surrounding of the tablet is the iphone 3G case!

You can see two volume buttons in the top left part.(What's the use?) Also the charger is an iPod/iPhone charger! Why the hell would they put a charger like this on a tablet this big?!?!?!

Anyway, great photoshoping or whatever you used, Its really good!

lesson 1: if the shadow of your macbook is against the wall, it means that your photoshop should have shadow BEHIND it instead of in FRONT of it.

lesson 2: If the shadow around your macbook is blueish and remarkable sharp on a grey tabletop, what would happen with the shadow on an alu macbook?

lesson 3: if you simulate taking a picture from an 45 angle, put some reflection from a light source as your macbook display actually is one.

Next time, while your there, do everything in maya/max/cheetah/mojo and use a realistic renderer.

Nice mockup but not for someone working at apple if you do so ;)

Fake. but kinda good. shadow around the islate is darker than the shadow from the laptop. The shadow would be much brighter because of the extra light from the screen. 2nd pic is totally fake. still cool though.

fake, because in the reflection of the tablet in the screen of the notebook you can see the reflection of the apple logo from the wallpaper. this would not be visible in reality, you maybe could see a reflection of what's behind the camera. however, you end up with such a reflecton if you use photoshop and transform, distort and move around stuff...

we'll see tomorrow I guess how close this fake was...

I think these are real pics. The digitization/compression noise is too good to be faked. The reflections are accurate, and close analysis contradicts the comments to the contrary. I've done a lot of photoshopping, and this is either expert work, or real. The tablets are out there, only one day from announcement, and it isn't hard to believe that a couple pics leaked out, even from Apple.

Nice mock-up, but the drop shadows and reflections could have been cleaner. I would encourage everyone to create a mock up of one, if they had time. It's a fun exercise, here is mine: http://www.markgeyer.com/index.php/site/comments/islate_concept_art

Nice job, but the drop shadow of the tab on the keyboard is too diffuse. Look at the MBP shadow on the desktop. It should be more defined like that.
